- DMSWin is a an Intuitionized version of The DISK-Masher disk
- compression program. It is provided to registered users for those
- who prefer a graphical user interface.
-
- For the purposes of this documentation it is assumed that the user
- already has a general knowledge of the CLI/Shell version of DMS.
-
- DMSWin requires Arp Library version 39.0 (1.3 release) or greater.
- Please make sure that you have it installed in your LIBS: directory.
-

- To start DMSWin , either double-click on the icon from Workbench
- or type 'DMSWin' from the command line. (DMSWin is installed as a background
- task so there is no need to 'Run' the program)
-
- Gadget Descriptions:
-
- 1.) The READ Gadget
-
- Clicking on the READ Gadget will bring up another window
- where you can enter in various parameters for the READ function.
-
- Output File Gadget:
-
- Brings up an Arp standard file requester where you can select
- the output file.
-
- Output File String Gadget
-
- Clicking here will let you type in the output file name.
-
- Text File Gadget
-
- Brings up an Arp standard file requester where you can select the
- Text file.
-
- Text File String Gadget
-
- Clicking here will let you type in the Text file name.
-
- Encrypt String Gadget
-
- This gadget is for entering in an Encryption password. If you
- do not wish to encrypt your output file make sure that this
- gadget is empty.
-
- Cmode Gadget
-
- Clicking here will cycle through the various compression modes.
-
- Inhibit? Gadget
-
- Lets you select whether or not to disable the drive while
- reading.
-
- Bitmap? Gadget
-
- Lets you select whether or not the Sector Bitmap is to be
- used when compressing data.
-
- Device Gadget
-
- Clicking here will cycle through the various drives available
- to read from. Only drives featuring 80 tracks - 2 sides -
- 11 sectors - 512 bytes per sector - can be used. If you are
- using a drive other than DF0: to DF3: please make sure it is
- mounted and available before running DMSWin.

- LowTrack Gadget
-
- Lets you select the LowTrack parameter.
-
- HighTrack Gadget
-
- Lets you select the HighTrack parameter.
-
- OK Gadget
-
- Everything is OK and start the operation.
-
- Cancel Gadget
-
- Cancel everything and return previous parameters.
-

- 2.) The WRITE Gadget
-
- Clicking on the WRITE Gadget will bring up another window
- where you can enter in various parameters for the WRITE function.

- Input File 1 Gadget:
-
- Brings up an Arp standard file requester where you can select
- the main Input file.
-
- Input File 1 String Gadget
-
- Clicking here will let you type in the main Input file name.
-
- Input File 2 Gadget
-
- Brings up an Arp standard file requester where you can select
- another Input file.
-
- Input File 2 String Gadget
-
- Clicking here will let you type in the other Input file name.
-
- Decrypt String Gadget
-
- This gadget is for entering in an Decryption password. If the
- file you wish to process in encrypted you must enter the
- correct decryption password. It is ignored for normal files.

- Text? Gadget
-
- Selects whether or not Banner Text should be displayed.
-
- Pause? Gadget
-
- Selects whether or not to pause after showing Banner Text
- or the boot block (if non-standard).
-
- Validate? Gadget
-
- Selects whether or not to validate the drive after completing
- the write operation.
-
- Device, Lowtrack, HighTrack , OK, Cancel Gadgets
-
- Same as in the READ window.

- 3.) The VIEW Gadget
-
- Clicking here will bring up an Arp standard File Requester
- where you may enter a file to be Viewed.

- 4.) The TEST Gadget

- Clicking here will bring up an Arp standard File Requester
- where you may enter a file to be Tested.

- 5.) The TEXT Gadget

- Clicking here will bring up an Arp standard File Requester
- where you may enter a file to view the Banner Text.

- 6.) The REPACK Gadget
-
- Clicking on the REPACK Gadget will bring up another window
- where you can enter in various parameters for the REPACK function.

- Input File Gadget:
-
- Brings up an Arp standard file requester where you can select
- the Input file.

- Input File String Gadget
-
- Clicking here will let you type in the Input file name.
-
- Output File Gadget
-
- Brings up an Arp standard file requester where you can select
- the Output file.
-
- Output File String Gadget
-
- Clicking here will let you type in the Output file name.
-
- Cmode, Lowtrack, HighTrack, OK, Cancel Gadgets
-
- Same as in the READ window.

- 7.) The ABOUT Gadget
-
- Brings up current information about the program.
-
- ------------------------------------------------------------

- 8.) The ABORT Gadget
-
- Use this to Abort any current operation in progress.
-
- ------------------------------------------------------------

- 9.) The ICONIFY Gadget (In the Upper Right Title Bar next to the
- front/back gadgets).
-
- Clicking this Gadget will cause DMSWin to shrink to a small
- gadget in the upper right of the Screen. It is essentially in a
- wait state and takes up practically no processing time.
- Double-Clicking on the small DMS Gadget will cause DMSWin to
- expand back to normal.

- If you are executing the program from CLI/Shell there is one
- command line argument available - ICONIFY. Adding the argument ICONIFY
- (i.e. DMSWin ICONIFY) will cause DMSWin to Iconify immediately. This
- is useful if you are using your hard-drive and wish to put it in your
- startup-sequence.

- On all operations requiring an input file where you use the
- Arp File Requester, only files ending with .DMS are shown and
- and directories.
